There Are Little Girls

by Janis Gaines

There are little girls — out there,
Wondering where Daddy went.
There are little boys — out there,
Wondering where Mommy went.

Is Daddy coming home soon?
Will Mommy soon be here?
When Daddy walks through the door,
Will he wipe away my tear?

Will Mommy hold me once again
As if I were a babe?
Can I climb upon my Daddy’s lap
If I am afraid?

There are little girls — out there,
Wondering where Daddy went.
There are little boys — out there,
Wondering where Mommy went.
