by Janis Gaines

A surprise attack
Invading my sacred space
An internal implosion
Scattering my soul
Into tiny bits and pieces
Of gold and steel
Forever transformed

Matter may change its shape
And hide from the naked eye
But it never disappears

So somehow
You will still find me here
With the looking-glass
Amidst the shiny glints and shadows
Underneath the rubble
