At the Red Light

by Janis Gaines

At the red light
My eyes catch his pace
Tall man walking
Talking on the phone
Unaware that he has cast
This spell on me
Drawing out the nymph
Who would follow his every move
And maybe walk right up to him
To look in his eyes
To see if he recognizes me
And perhaps embrace
With a brief twirl of my fingers
Through his hair
Cheek on cheek
A unison heartbeat

This brief glimpse
Of eternity ends
When the red light is
Too soon green
And I must find
My way home
